Overview

These procedures involve removing excess prostate tissue to relieve symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). TURP, Aqua-ablation, and endoscopic methods are effective for reducing urinary symptoms and improving flow, offering different levels of invasiveness based on the patient's needs.

Conditions Treated

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

Urinary Retention

Who is it for?

For men with an enlarged prostate needing tissue removal through the urethra for relief

Benefits

Relieves urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate, improving flow and enhancing comfort for patients

How it Works

Endoscopic procedures performed through the urethra remove or reduce excessive prostate tissue that blocks urine flow. TURP uses an electrical loop, Aqua-ablation uses a waterjet, and other endoscopic methods can employ lasers or heat.

Duration

1-2 hours

Recovery

Many patients return to their usual activities within 1-2 weeks post-procedure, allowing time for the urethral canal to heal.
